Before we say FTTR, let's talk about what FTTx is.

FTTx is short for "Fiber To The x" for "fiber to x", The "x" does not only represent the site where the fiber arrives, but also includes the optical network device installed at the site and identifies the area where the network device serves. For example, "H" in FTTH is short for Home, which refers to Optical fiber to the home, household optical cable to the user's home, and installing fiber optic modem in the user's home, the area served by the modem is 1 home.

The "R" in the FTTR is short for Room, which refers to an optical fiber to two or more rooms in the user's home, and a fiber optic modem is installed in the corresponding room, with each modem serving one to more rooms in the home.
